March 2015 Newsletter - I for India

At the outset, we extend you a very warm welcome to the "I for India" community ! Thank you for registering with us and visiting our website and Facebook page. This is your community and we need your continued patronage and support to make it stronger, more integrated and make the most of our coming together!

We are conscious that you may have heard a lot about us and our initiatives from different perspectives, hence we wish to use this very first newsletter to give you a quick overview of what “I for India” is really all about, our 2 events under way and 3rd event in planning for early June. We aim to have this newsletter monthly to keep everyone updated, to allow greater planning and participation.

I for India - A quick overview

For the benefit of the uninitiated, “I for India” was formed with the aim of bringing together people of Indian origin settled or new to the United Kingdom to know each other in a fun, sporting, and interactive way through warm, welcoming and potentially innovative social occasions. Our objective is to add value to the interests of the Indian community in the UK, be it networking or social occasions, useful career or other information, special terms, benefits, privileges, etc. The reach of this initiative is M4/M25 corridor and beyond so there is something in it for everyone and this is sure to enhance your social connections!

Another ambition of the forum is to provide our patrons with some exclusive and scale benefits in relation to our events or other special terms or discounts with our partners. With your growing patronage and support, we hope to be able to negotiate more such benefits and privileges. The core team at "I for India" is a bunch of qualified and accomplished senior management professionals who share a common experience and passion in developing and promoting ethnic community forums and events in the UK over the last decade.

Our first 2 events in April & May

We started this journey only a month ago and are extremely pleased as well as humbled with your overwhelming support to this cause. Our first 2 events planned are a near chartered tour experience to Alicante (Spain) "A for Alicante" in 1st week of April and a Thames river cruise – "B for Boat Cruise" (networking, dine & dance event) on the 3rd May (bank holiday weekend). Both these events were oversubscribed in 2-3 days of announcing, which gives us a lot of strength and confidence that this journey must continue and can go much further with your support …many thanks again for your enthusiasm and active participation !!

What’s Next?... "C for Career Connexions" evening in early June!

As mentioned earlier, our main aim is to be beneficial to the Indian community in the UK and this goes beyond just social occasions. It is in this context we want to organise a networking evening for working professionals to broaden their professional and investment opportunities. We believe that the selection of topics and the profile of the attendees will make it an event worthwhile for both contractors and permanently employed professionals. Hence our event for June is aptly titled "C for Career Connexions"!

Please note event details below and block your diaries right away:

Date & time: 3rd June 2015
Venue: Henry's Café Bar, 16 Hertsmere Road, West India Quay, Canary Wharf, London E14 4AX

There is already a large interest for this event from bankers, IT consultants, Finance professionals etc. The event will cover a broad range of topics such as presentation by leading recruitment agencies, advice on accounting & taxation for contractors and would-be contractors, advice on life style essentials such as pension, insurance, mortgage, as well as investment options aimed at managing and broadening your income streams and sources. We hope this may help you get further ahead in your career, or just give you a bit more context and information to help you make a more informed decision (for example, if you are seriously contemplating a contracting option).

If these are not for you, there is still the networking opportunity with nearly 200 like-minded professionals over a drink in an informal atmosphere and learning about potential investment and alternate income opportunities... all of this is just not the routine get together and has got to be worth it, right ?!... To top it all, the event is FREE entry with FREE welcome drink!

Watch this space and keep an eye on our Facebook page for this new event entry, as well as for pictures of the sunny Alicante holidays over the Easter break!

On behalf of the partners and volunteers at "I for India", We take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for all the trust and confidence you have bestowed upon us. We remain confident that we can make this collective a very special forum for us all to come together in a variety of formats which will add a lot of value, joy and enrichment to our lives!

We would most welcome any input, suggestions or ideas from you including any events you would like to see in the future. You can email us your thoughts at team@iforindia.uk.

We look forward to meeting you in person at our next event!
