Margazhi Mahotsavam 2023

Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and are eagerly looking forward to the holiday and festive season in the UK shortly around the corner 😊

The last weekend was a very special and festive one for us at I for India, with our very own Margazhi Mahotsavam in the UK and it was delightful to see so many of you at this festive event across London, Berkshire and Birmingham.

Margazhi Mahotsavam 2023 - post event summary

We are so pleased that the 3 events across the UK over the weekend concluded extremely well, with God’s grace and your strong support / patronage.

It was particularly gratifying to see our younger generation in good numbers, with some groups also having an opportunity to briefly showcase their talents at these events. We hope it was a valuable cultural immersion for them as the future Indian generation here, getting familiar with our “Margazhi” season back home and ofcourse being inspired by the musical concert of the young prodigy Ms. Sooryagayathri at her maiden concert visit to the UK, accompanied by eminent musicians - on violin by Sri. Balu Raguraman and Sri. Nagaraju and on the mridangam by her proud father and first Guru, Sri. P.V Anil Kumar.

All concerts were so well presented by the young singer, with an eclectic mix of compositions that were popular, spellbinding and multi-lingual to appeal to the diverse audience (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi). We are also extremely blessed to have such passionate and tasteful Rasikas at these events, who fully immersed themselves into the shows and described their experience in their feedback to us as “captivating, mesmerising, enthralling, blissful, surreal”… our favourite quote was also one of the patrons praising Sooryagayathri as “God’s Own Child from the God’s Own Country”. The audience were so appreciative, applauding and encouraging the performances all the way through and also tributing the artistes across all shows with standing ovations!

For the attendees to relive the moments and for our patrons who could not attend, please find the link to the moments and experiences from the event.

Gopinath Chandran is an Indian television anchor, radio jockey, journalist, reporter, news presenter/moderator, entrepreneur, and a writer, currently featured on the STAR Vijay debate show Neeya Naana. He is popularly known as "Neeya Naana Gopinath"

Gopinath is a firebrand motivational speaker who is a rage among the youth for his poetic aggression and refreshing insights. For many media personalities, Gopinath is an inspiration.

Those who attended the last show would recall the interesting debates and good laugh together with our friends and speakers from the UK, so come and have a memorable evening of fun, an engaging debate and socialising with your community here in the UK.
